Four Girl Scouts from local Troop 1499 donated $500 worth of food, toys and more to the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center last week.
Working toward their Girl Scout Silver Award, Kaylyn Hutchinson, Tiffany Sims, Katy Schofield, and Janelle Grant earned more than $500 by collecting and redeeming recyclables to benefit the animals at the shelter. The girls bought food, blankets, dog toys and a beautiful new deluxe birdcage. They also collected 20 bags of used newspapers for use in the cattery.
The facility on Hillcrest services Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo.
“These wonderful young animal lovers are to be commended for their hard work and service to the community,” said Gail DeYoung, animal services manager. “The staff and animals at the shelter are extremely thankful and amazed by their hard work and generosity. Thank you Troop 1499!”
