The Saddleback women’s cross country finished fourth on Thursday at the Junior College Empire Conference Cross Country Championship at Oso Creek Park in Mission Viejo.
The annual event, which was hosted by Saddleback College, featured 10 junior colleges with more than 120 male and female runners.
Sara Toberty of Orange Coast College – the women’s winner – finished the 3.1-mile run in 18:33.20, with Hugo Gutierrez of the same school nabbing the men’s victory in the 4-mile course with a 21:18.30 finish.
Saddleback’s Evonna Ramirez led the Gaucho runners, finishing eighth overall. She finished the course in 19:15.50. The Gauchos had several other solid performers, with Chelsea Owens taking the 13th spot and Kris Anderson finishing in 19th place out of 68 runners.
The Gauchos finished with 101 points as a team and captured fourth place. Orange Coast College took the team title; Riverside College followed in second place; and Fullerton College took third.
