Mission Viejo is one of three cities selected to host a Point-Of-Dispensing (POD) exercise on Friday at its Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. The POD event is designed to test mass dispensing and vaccination capabilities of a community during a disaster.
The POD event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Oct. 29 at 24932 Veterans Way.
Mission Viejo will receive 1,500 seasonal flu/H1N1 vaccines to distribute to residents ages 2 and older through a drive-thru line in the Village Green parking lot. People can also opt for a walk-in clinic at the community center. The event provides a great opportunity to help the community prepare for health emergencies.
The City’s free POD exercise is a multi-agency operation with the Orange County Health Care Agency, Orange County Fire Authority, Orange County Sheriff’s Department and other volunteer agencies. The agencies have been training and preparing for the large-scale event for the past several months.
