Commuters can get their share of the savings by giving up driving solo and joining the ride during this year’s Rideshare Week, Oct. 4 to Oct. 8.
Â
People can pledge to take the bus or train, vanpool, carpool, ride a bike or walk for a chance to win a variety of prizes including Oakley sunglasses, movie tickets and gift cards.
Â
Participants may enter by mail or online at www.octa.net/rideshareweek.
Â
The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) will be at various locations throughout the county promoting a different mode of transportation each day:
Â
Metrolink Monday, Oct. 4: OCTA will visit three Metrolink stations and give away free roundtrip tickets to the first 100 people at each station.

Transit Tuesday, Oct. 5: OCTA will visit three OCTA bus stops and give away free one-day passes to the first 25 people at each location.

Walking Wednesday, Oct. 6: OCTA and UCI will host an event to help employees learn biking routes to grab lunch, run errands or commute to and from work.

Vanpool/Carpool Thursday, Oct. 7: Enterprise and VPSI will join OCTA at the Laguna Hills Park and Ride lot from 3 to 5 p.m. to help turn carpools into vanpools.

Bike to Work Friday, Oct. 8: Anaheim Transportation Network and OCTA are hosting a bike event in downtown Anaheim.
Â
Rideshare Week is part of OCTA’s Commuter Solutions program, which provides employers and employees the most efficient and economical ways to get to work on time, according to OCTA.
