Volunteers at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center are still buzzing after two dozen cats were adopted during the facility’s recent cat promotion.
Dedicated Animal Welfare Group (DAWG), the center’s non-profit fundraising group, promoted cat adoptions by covering the $100 adoption fee of every adult cat – meaning it only cost $35 to adopt a friendly feline. The fee covered the cat’s vaccine and microchip.
During DAWG’s month-long promotional event, 24 adult cats found forever homes.
“During kitten season, there are so many felines to choose from so DAWG paid the adoption fee to be sure adult cats found loving homes, too,” said Animal Services Manager Gail DeYoung. “In some instances DAWG was able to offer a two-for-one opportunity for adopters willing to take two littermates.”
DAWG has extended the offer for five special felines who are waiting for loving homes at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center located at 28095 Hillcrest.

I am interested in adopting a cat while you have this special going on. Any of your cats potty trained????? 949-702-3443 Lila Allen aka Lila Folkers
In response to Lila…. I have owned cats in the past and can tell you that cats are very good about the litter box! In fact, 4 and 5 week old kittens instinctively know what to do when placed in a litter box. It’s not like training a dog. Contact the shelter directly at (949) 470-3045 and they can get you paired up with a great cat!
P.S. My first cat was named Lila
Will you be having another cat discount day in the near future? I’d love to adopt two but right now is not a good time. Maybe near Christmas would be a good time for the shelter to offer seniors this same opportunity again.
Thank you so much for caring for our dear sweet, innocent animals. No other animal on the earth suffers more at the hands of humans, be it for research, or just plain something that bleeds to torture. They need our compassion. Thank you again.
