Mark your calendar for three fun-filled events designed to make people kick up their heels, appreciate art and enjoy the roaring ’20s.
On Friday, September 24, the Saddleback Art League will host a free lecture about the life and works of John Singer Sargent, one of the world’s most well-known portrait painters.
Jim Salchak, a noted artist and past president of the National Watercolor Society, will lead the discussion that starts at 7:00 p.m. in the Mission Viejo City Council Chamber, 200 Civic Center. For more information, call 949-470-8440.
The following night country music lovers of all ages are invited to enjoy the City’s Lord of the Strings Concert featuring country music great Thom Bresh.
This Saturday, September 25 program is at 7:00 p.m. in the Mission Viejo City Council Chamber.
Thom, the son of Country Music Hall of Famer Merle Travis, is a successful musician in his own right and major player in the finger pickin’ guitar world.

Rounding out the three nights of excitement is the Timeless Melodies Takes You Back: “Ain’t We Got Fun” program on Sunday, September 26.
The program, featuring music of the Roaring ’20s, will take audience members on a musical tour through the era of flappers, sheiks, and the Charleston. Folks will revisit the music and times of Al Jolson, Bill Bo Jangles Robinson and Fred Astaire.
The program kicks off at 7 p.m. in the Mission Viejo City Council Chamber.
