A ceremony of remembrance for the victims of 9/11 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11 in the parking lot of City Hall, 200 Civic Center.
The ceremony, led by The Purple Flying Monkey Webelos Patrol (5th grade scouts ages 10 – 11), starts at 7:30 a.m. and will include a flag-raising ceremony. It is a gesture by these youngsters meant to pay homage to the thousands who lost their lives on 9/11.
The scouts, who are active in their Mission Viejo Cub Scout Pack 703, include John Damyen, Grant Goldsworth, Bailey Webb, Zion Healy, Nicholas Cross, Julian Mireles, Tyler Dewalt, David Suzuki, Kevin Alarcon and Joseph Lane.
The brief ceremony will include a speech by a Cub Scout or two along with a welcome from Mayor Trish Kelley.
Guests to this poignant ceremony, who will be gathered near the flag area in the parking lot, will bow their heads in a moment of silence and listen to Taps performed by a scout to conclude the ceremony.
The public is invited to take part in this short ceremony to remember the victims, their families and those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
