The public is invited to take part in a Blood Drive Sept. 9 in honor of the heroes of 9/11 and members of Mission Viejo’s adopted Headquarters Battalion of the First Marine Division.

The City’s blood drive, organized by Mayor Trish Kelley, is inspired by all of those who lost their lives on that fateful Sept. 11, 2001 day and by Mission Viejo’s adopted troops. This is the third blood drive Mayor Kelley has organized. The last two were in honor of Mission Viejo Hometown Marine Alex Minsky.

“For me, donating blood has always been a very personal and meaningful action,” she said. “In giving just a few minutes of my time, and parting with a pint of blood, I am able to help to save three lives! I am dedicating this Blood Drive to the victims of 9/11 and to the heroes, past and present, who protect our nation and our freedom. I invite the Mission Viejo community to join me in honoring the 9/11 victims and heroes.”

The blood drive will take place from noon to 6:00 p.m. in the Saddleback Room at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.

To register for the blood drive, visit www.givelife.org and reference sponsor code “comv.” For more information or to make an appointment, contact Mayor Kelley at 949-470-8476 or trishkelley@cox.net.
