The City’s Department of Information Technology today rolled out a revamped Mission Viejo Life blog, which is more user-friendly and convenient for the public to learn about news, events and information that impact the way people live, work and play.
Visitors to the blog at http://missionviejolife.org will find categories – news, business, entertainment, sports, library and events – featuring the latest headlines and information in an easy-to-read and navigate format. The City’s official blog, which is often cited in the Orange County Register, features photos and rotating City articles that are updated on a regular basis. The blog also boasts the latest “tweets” by the City and a link to Mission Viejo’s YouTube, which features an array of community videos. People can post comments on blog articles and can contribute news and information that may be of interest to blog readers by sending it to blognews@cityofmissionviejo.org.
The City launched its official blog, which is an online informational diary for residents interested in keeping a pulse on community news, in July 2008. The blog is another effective and time-sensitive venue to disseminate information about the City and give the community another place to share opinions.
People who visit the Mission Viejo Life blog will find up-to-date information about City activities; updates on special events and road and other projects; and general information about Mission Viejo. The blog complements the City’s e-Newsletter, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other Web site features as an effective vehicle for communicating with the community. Mission Viejo continues to enhance its voice on the Internet, and the technology is used to disseminate information.

Simpler was better. I prefer to scan at my own speed and stopping on items of interest to me. The scrolling of new items is too “gimmicky.”
