Roughly 3,000 people flocked to the 21st annual KSBR Birthday Bash Sunday to enjoy the talents of renowned entertainers such as David Benoit, Hiroshima, Greg Adams, Evelyn Champagne King and other talented contemporary jazz artists in a freewheeling jam session.
Saddleback College radio station KSBR (88.5 FM) joined forces with the City to host its 21st Birthday Bash celebration at Village Green of Oso Viejo Community Park amidst a sea of jazz aficionados, artists and families alike.
The annual bash delighted the masses with surprise performers such as Mindi Abair, Jeff Golub, Peter White, Brian Culbertson, Jeff Kashiwa, Steve Cole and others who were announced on stage. It also featured famous favorites such as Brian Bromberg, Chieli Minucci, Dan Siegel, Richard Smith, Freddie Fox, Max Bennett, Blake Aaron, Freddie Washington, Steve Reid, and Dean Grech.
The KSBR Birthday Bash began more than two decades ago as a small and informal end-of-the-membership-drive party in the lounge of what was then the Dana Point Resort, moving in 1998 to Mission San Juan Capistrano. After 10 years of sellouts at the Mission, the Bash moved to its Mission Viejo home two years ago.
Concert-goers enjoy a picturesque picnic-style event with plenty of room for blankets and chairs.
