Plastic Surgeon Christopher Nolan, M.D. has been elected Chief of Staff at Mission Hospital, officials reported. Nominated by his peers and voted into office by the active medical staff, Nolan will serve his current term, which runs through December.
As Chief, Nolan is the chairperson of the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) and leader of the medical staff. He will direct policies and procedures generated by the MEC and will be responsible for self governance of the medical staff at both the Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach campuses. He previously served as Chief of Staff Elect. Nolan is a full-time Plastic Surgeon in solo private practice. He has been a member of the active staff at Mission Hospital for 25 years and previously served as Chief of Surgery.
“I look forward to working with our Board of Trustees to continue the healing ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph,” Nolan said. “I have had the great good fortune of seeing Mission Hospital grow from a small community hospital to a major medical center and I take pride in knowing that as Chief of Staff, I can continue to make a difference, always seeking ways to change good to better and better to best.”
A strong believer in giving back, Nolan is active in many community services and donates his time to several charitable organizations, including missionary medical services in rural Mexico. He remains active with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and was a founding member of Opera Pacifica. He has appeared in series on Discovery Channel, Discovery Health Channel, Animal Planet and German television. He’s also been featured in the Orange County Register and Los Angeles Times.
