Stimulus money fuels street-paving project

The City will repave more than two miles of busy Mission Viejo streets in an effort to extend the life of the roadways.

The City obtained nearly $900,000 in stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Rehabilitation Act (ARRA) for the project that includes repaving Alicia Parkway from Olympiad Road to the east City limit, Olympiad Road from Alicia Parkway to Marguerite Parkway and Trabuco Road from Los Alisos Boulevard to the north City limit.

Preparatory work began this week and continues through the month. Paving and re-striping will take place in February, with all work expected to be completed in March.

  1. What about La Paz? Have you all driven up and down La Paz between Marguerite and the freeway lately? It’s almost like a third world road in some places.

  2. The Public Services Department has already scheduled repair work for that portion of La Paz for later this month. A complete resurfacing is scheduled to follow the La Paz Bridge Widening project, which is due to start next year.
