The City Council on Monday approved $50,000 in 2009-10 community services funding to 20 non-profit organizations under a program designed to assist non-profit organizations that serve Mission Viejo residents.

The City accepts applications for the program until Sept. 1 and awards funding in December. This year a strong emphasis was placed on identifying community building and City-agency partnerships as part of the application review process.

The following agencies will receive funding:

Angels for the Arts/ Saddleback College (Passport to the Arts and Summer Musical Series); Arts- Orange County; Philharmonic Society of Orange County; Saddleback Art League; Assistance League of Saddleback Valley; Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley; Camino Health Center; Disability Awareness Foundation; Human Options; J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center ; Laura’s House; Scoliosis Association; South County Outreach; South County Safe Rides; South County Senior Services/ Adult Day Care; Special Olympics of Orange County; Stand-up for Kids; The Joyful Foundation; and Vocational Visions.
