More than 250 people attended the free Foreclosure Prevention Workshop the City recently held in partnership with the Orange County Homeownership Preservation Collaborative (OCHOPC).
The Oct. 29 event, which was held at the City’s Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, was designed to educate homeowners who are behind on their mortgage payments on what to do to avoid foreclosure.
Council Member Trish Kelley welcomed attendees to the event that included several experts from banks, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and legal aid agencies who provided individual counseling and assistance to families worried about or experiencing foreclosure.
Folks were given a short presentation on how to negotiate with lenders and loan servicers to prevent foreclosure.
This event marks the 12th event organized by OCHOPC, which has helped more than 6,000 homeowners in Orange County and prevented more than 500 foreclosures.
