Resident Raymond Persinger was honored by the Santa Fe Springs City Council this week for his impressive large-scale public sculpture.
The sculpture, “The Construction Worker,” for the Kiewit Pacific Co. is part of Santa Fe Springs’ Heritage Artwork in Public Places Program. The artist’s large-scale public artwork is located at 10704 Shoemaker Ave. in Santa Fe Springs.
Persinger is said to be one of the most skilled sculptors living today. His work shows the influences of Michelangelo, St. Gaudins, Rodin and Camile Claudel. He has discussed and showcased his work in Mission Viejo and appeared before the City’s Cultural Arts Commission.
Persinger has a long history of impacting lives through his powerful public artwork. At 25, he received his first large-scale public art commission, “Mustangs.” The sculpture consisted of three life-sized running horses in bronze for the City of Brea’s public art program. This was the first of many other colossal works to follow.
Persinger is also a beloved instructor and head of the sculpture program at the Laguna College of Art and Design. He and his wife, Marianne, enjoy living in Mission Viejo with their three children.
