The public on Oct. 29 is invited to attend a foreclosure prevention workshop designed to help homeowners avoid foreclosure.
The City is teaming up with the Orange County Home Ownership Preservation Collaborative to offer the free workshop in both English and Spanish as a service to the community.
The English workshop is from 10 a.m. to noon; followed by the Spanish workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way. Registration begins 30 minutes before the programs start.
Experts from banks, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and nonprofit housing organizations will provide individual counseling and other assistance for families worried about or experiencing foreclosure. Counselors will be available for confidential one-on-one meetings to offer free advice and answer questions.
Attendees will learn how to avoid foreclosure scams and will hear a short presentation about how to negotiate with lenders or loan servicers to prevent foreclosure. Homeowners can bring their loan documents and meet with lenders on site.
Reservations are recommended and are available by calling 714-569-0823 (x 225) or by e-mailing prconcon@aol.com.
