The Mission Viejo Community Foundation in partnership with Park Place Lexus has allocated $7,000 for a new Teacher Assistance Grant Program for K-12 teachers at Mission Viejo schools in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District and Capistrano Unified School District.

The Foundation received 84 grant applications requesting more than $37,000 before the Sept. 30 deadline. The Foundation awarded 17 grants ranging from $100 to $500 to teachers in 10 elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools in Mission Viejo. The grant award winners are listed below.

The Teacher Assistance Grant Program provides funding for basic classroom needs identified by teachers and submitted for consideration through a competitive grant application process.

Several teachers use their own personal funds to provide basic classroom supplies and materials, and the Mission Viejo Community Foundation wanted to help fill this need. The Foundation funded $5,000 toward the grants, and Park Place Lexus donated an additional $2,000.

The Teacher Assistance Grant Program was developed to support the mission of the Mission Viejo Community Foundation, which is to provide funding resources through public/private partnerships for social, cultural, recreational and educational needs that will enhance the quality of life for the residents of Mission Viejo.
