Walkability Wake Up Sept. 25 at City’s community center

walkingIn celebration of Fall Prevention Awareness Week, the City and Orange County Down with Falls Coalition will host a ”Walkability Wake Up” event on Friday, Sept. 25.

The free program is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

Walkability is a critical aspect of a healthy, vibrant and sustainable community. Participants will do their own “walkability” survey and learn how easy and safe walking can be. The program will cover an array of topics including walking locations, distance, safety, foot wear and more.

Sapan Palkhivala PT, DPT of Complete Balance Solutions will discuss common causes of falls and steps to take to prevent falls at 1 p.m.

Personal assessments, walking maps, OCTA bus passes (65+), Explore O.C. Walkability Cards and other giveaways will be handed out. Prizes will be distributed every hour.
