inner-coastalCommunity groups, students, churches, families, businesses and individuals are sought to help remove trash and debris from local creeks, watersheds, trails and neighborhoods on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The public is invited to participate in the Inner-Coastal and Watershed Clean-up Day.

Inner-Coastal Clean Up Day, held in conjunction with Coastal Clean Up Day, is one of California’s largest volunteer efforts. Last year, more than 70,000 volunteers across the state helped to remove more than 1,600,000 pounds of litter and debris from our beaches, lakes and waterways.

Mission Viejo’s 8th annual clean-up event is from 8 a.m. to noon at the Oso Creek Trailhead on the corner of Marguerite Parkway and Estanciero. Last year, more than 250 volunteers participated in the City’s event, which is meant to benefit the environment.

Volunteers can help remove trash and debris in and around Oso Creek and at the commercial center near the creek.

Registration takes place at the trailhead where trash bags and gloves will be handed out. At the end of the day, the bags will be tallied, weighed and included in the county’s roll up to the state.
