Saturday’s Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival catered to readers of all ages and prompted enthusiasm for a command performance next year. The City obtained the following reactions:
It was obvious 3-year-old Jack Wade enjoyed the Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival as he took a moment to draw his favorite storybook character, “Thomas the Tank Engine,” on the chalkboard wall. The Wade family of Mission Viejo heard about the Readers’ Festival at the Mission Viejo Library and decided to ride their bikes down to Oso Viejo Community Park for the day. Jack’s mom, Natalie, a second-grade teacher, said the family really enjoyed the fun-filled day and would “absolutely attend another Readers’ Festival.”
First in line before 8 a.m. for a seat to see Dean Koontz was Fullerton resident Kathryn Jones.
“Dean Koontz is my favorite author, and I did not mind coming early so that I could get a seat,” she said with conviction.
Jones learned about the Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival from an Orange County Register article. When asked what she enjoyed most about the Festival, she said “Koontz.” She also commented on the City’s beautiful Norman P. Murray Community Center and mentioned enjoying the food court. Jones said she would certainly attend the Readers’ Festival again.
Mission Viejo resident Marianne Yee learned of the Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival through the City’s electronic newsletter. Yee attends many City events and arrived early to hear best-selling author Lisa See speak. Yee is a regular library user and when asked to describe the Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival in one word, she said “enriching.”
