Appearing at the Sept. 12 Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival – among the more than two dozen authors, illustrators, and entertainers – will be iconic actor and bestselling children’s book author Henry Winkler.
Whether starring in movies, playing “The Fonz” on Happy Days, or authoring a series of children’s books, Henry Winkler has been entertaining audiences for three decades. The famous actor, director and author will be headlining the Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival to discuss his popular children’s book series on the adventures of Hank Zipzer: The World’s Most Amazing Underachiever.
Henry Winkler will be speaking from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in the Sycamore Room of the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. Reservation wristbands for his presentation will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the event at the Festival “Welcome” booth.
This free City event, sponsored by the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library, takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Village Green and Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
In addition to “Bringing Books to Life,” the Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival is serving as a way to support those less fortunate, as representatives of the South Orange County Food Bank will be present to accept donated canned or non-perishable food items.
More information on Henry Winkler and all of the authors, illustrators, entertainers, and food vendors is available at www.mvreadersfestival.org.

We went to the Festival Yesterday. My daughter was SO excited to meet Henry – she knows him from the books and as Stanley Yelnats’ dad (Stanley Yelnats) in the movie holes – and for “I don’t Smell Any-thing!”) We didn’t get there in time for wristbands but, were at the front of the autograph line! She got a picture with him and is elated!
The booths were fantastic – so many of them! We have some ideas for Girl Scout Service Projects from the event.
And of course, we stopped by the reason we even knew about the event – the KSBR 88.5FM Radio station Booth and talked to Gary -
The Mission Viejo Reader’s Festival was an amazing and funfilled event for myself, my daughter’s and our beautiful community. My daughter’s were delighted beyond words that they got to meet Mr. Winkler, get a picure with him and have him sign thier new books!!! Oh, Happy Day’s Again.
Getting to meet and chat a minute with the amazing Lisa Nichols and the “Positive People” was inspiring as well.
Thank-you Mission Viejo for bringing these wonderful oppotunities to our community.
