The City is gearing up for its Sept. 12 Mission Viejo Readers’ Festival – an event that is expected to attract thousands from South County and beyond.

More than two dozen adult, children’s, and young-adult authors and illustrators including Henry Winkler; Dean Koontz; Lisa See; Kevin Fagan; and Robin Glasser will mingle with readers in interactive and pristine settings on the Village Green, Oso Viejo Park and Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center during the 2009 Readers’ Festival.

The free City event, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library, will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature a food court and vendors displaying an array of literature-based products. There will be book signings throughout the day.

The festival will also feature top-notch entertainment that caters to adults and children alike. Local talent includes Kina Grannis; Sara Haze; Cory Case; and Speratic. Children will enjoy magic acts; puppet shows; comedy and juggling programs; and a special performance by Heebie & Jeebie.

Local restaurants will sell delectable fare, and the festival will also serve as a way to support the less fortunate. Festival attendees are encouraged to bring a canned or non-perishable food item to donate to the South Orange County Food Bank.

The event is also a boon to students, who can earn scholastic community service hours by attending the Readers’ Festival.

Detailed information about the authors and illustrators along with a complete list of entertainers and food vendors is available at www.mvreadersfestival.org.
