A suspect is in custody for robbing a Wells Fargo Bank on July 27 after authorities received an anonymous tip.
The suspect is identified as 20-year-old Adam J. Bennett of Santa Ana. The man entered the bank at 24471 Alicia Parkway, demanded money and was believed to have been armed. He fled with $700 in a late-model Ford Escort.
An investigator from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department received a tip from an anonymous informant that led to Bennett’s confession and arrest. A witness to the robbery positively identified Bennett as the bank robber.
Authorities say the information the informant provided was crucial to the suspect’s arrest. Anyone who witnesses a bank robbery is encouraged to contact a local FBI office.
Bennett is being held at the Orange County Jail on separate narcotics and theft charges. He will be prosecuted at the federal level for the bank robbery charges after answering to the local charges.
