Mission Viejo Nadadores Swimming swept the top three places at a sun-baked Marguerite Aquatics Complex during the 2009 Southern California Swimming Summer Junior Olympic Championships, which ended Sunday. The victories mark the first time since 1988 that the USA Swimming Gold Medal Club has won all three titles.
The swimmers took first place in the boys, girls and combined team competitions at the event that featured more than 1,100 of the top age-group swimmers from around Southern California.
“It was a phenomenal effort by all the athletes, coaches, volunteers and supporters,” said General Manager Mike Lewis.
The public can share in the Nadadores’ success by attending the “Community Open House” on Tuesday, Aug. 4 to learn about the Nadadores, which are known world-wide for a commitment to excellence in the sport of swimming. Locally, the club is also known for its community-service efforts.
The open house, which takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., includes free games, prizes, swimming demonstrations, food and fun. Visitors will learn about swimming programs and more.
