Maintenance crews are busy repairing and rebuilding several athletic fields throughout Mission Viejo as part of a Public Services effort to improve the fields and benefit users.
Crews are removing worn grass areas and replacing sod, adding new soil and leveling fields. Workers are fertilizing and replenishing baseball infield dirt and improving irrigation systems at fields throughout the City. The work is taking place during short breaks in the soccer, baseball and softball seasons, so the fields are ready to go for the onslaught of clinics, tournaments and the return of the regular fall season. Signs are posted on selective fields to inform the public of field closures.
“These efforts allow Mission Viejo to boast some of the best fields in the nation,” said Public Services Operation Manager Jerry Hill.
