The public is invited to embrace an exhibit that relishes in the heritage of the City and its sister city, Mission Viejo, Colorado.
Mission Viejo is a subdivision of Aurora, Colorado in the Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Area. California-based Mission Viejo Company purchased a 640-acre plot around 1972 with the purpose of creating a planned development in the style of Mission Viejo, California with “Barcelona” entrance walls and “Mission Bell” street lights. Borrowing from the area, the Mission Viejo Company plotted out a few access streets for its Aurora project. Two parkways (Alicia and Marguerite) are also named in honor of Rancho Mission Viejo’s matriarchs.
The Heritage House, located at 28951 Melinda Park, is open from noon to 4 p.m. the second and fourth Saturday of the month or by appointment only.
