The American Athletics 18U Girls Softball team is headed to the ASA 18U Girls Fastpitch National Tournament in Las Vegas, joining more than 130 other teams in the tournament that takes place July 26-Aug. 2. Representing Mission Viejo, the team will make its 11th consecutive appearance at the Nationals.

The team’s ascent to the Nationals comes on the heels of its 2nd place win in the qualifier ASA State Championship in Riverside late June.

The team includes 18 players and features five local high school seniors who received scholarships to play college softball. The players are Katie Belanger – University of California, San Diego; Brooke Bell – California State University, Long Beach; Courtney Hiatt – Humboldt State University; Rita Kim – Azusa Pacific University; and Brianne Webster who received a scholarship from Cypress College.
