More than 50 families have signed up for the Outta Bounds Events Summer Day Camp at the Thomas R Potocki Conference Center, 27301 La Paz Road.
The camp averages about 35 kids each week and the numbers continue to flourish.
The City’s partnership with the newly formed non-profit organization is part of an effort to encourage healthy, active lifestyles among youth. The collaboration with Outta Bounds Events, Inc. has produced beneficial programming for school-age kids in the community.
Each weeklong camp session includes several on-site activities, local excursions and trips to some of Southern California’s best entertainment locations. On site, youngsters enjoy an assortment of crafts, sports, group games and events based on TV shows such as “Fear Factor” and “Iron Chef.” Participants enjoy trips to Wild Rivers, The Orange County Fair, Boomers and Knott’s Berry Farm. The camp also travels to T-Street Beach and campers swim at the City’s Montanoso Recreation Center pool on Tuesdays and bowl on Fridays at Saddleback Lanes.
Along with the fun-filled activities, the camp puts great emphasis on positive youth development. Each camp session has a theme and is supported by one of the character traits outlined in the Mission Viejo Community of Character Program. Activities are designed to educate and reinforce character values such as respect, responsibility, gratitude and moral courage. The camp is working on character projects with local seniors and participants are collecting care-package items for soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Outta Bounds Events is staffed by experienced leaders with more than 60 years of youth programming experience combined.
