City staff and the Mission Viejo Country Club have joined forces in applying for $1.1 million in federal stimulus funding for the proposed Oso Creek Restoration and Protection Project improvements.
The proposed Oso Creek Restoration and Protection Project’s improvements include bank stabilization and laybacks; riparian habitat restoration; and the removal of invasive species along the creek between St. Kilian’s Church and the I-5 Freeway. Past heavy storms have caused bank failures in this stretch of the creek and flooding of Oso Parkway.
The joint application will be tentatively placed on a list to compete for $45 million in Clean Water State Revolving Funds available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
