Residents seeking to obtain a passport or passport card for a trip to Canada and Mexico can obtain one at the Mission Viejo Library, as part of a convenient, useful service offered to the public.
As of June 1, 2009, a valid United States passport is now required for all foreign travel by air and sea. A passport is required for land travel to and from Mexico and Canada.
Passport books and cards are available at the library on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Along with providing U.S. Passport application, renewal and photo services, Mission Viejo Library Passport Acceptance Service agents are qualified to answer questions regarding replacing lost or stolen passports, birth certificates or naturalization certificates. In such cases, the applicant can obtain a replacement passport by requesting a “File Search” from the U.S. Passport Agency, which proves that a U.S. Passport has been issued.
