Visual art, jazz event on tap Tuesday
The City is joining forces with the Saddleback Valley Unified School District to host a free visual display and jazz event from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.

Visitors can view impressive art work, listen to soothing jazz and taste inventive fare while strolling the grounds of the Norman P. Murray Community Center at 24932 Veterans Way.

The showcase will feature live jazz performed by middle and high school jazz ensembles along with an exhibition of creative student artwork.

June 6 Lord of the Strings presents ‘fingerstyle’ champ
Pat DonohueThe public on Saturday, June 6 is invited to attend a special performance by a musician whose style blends blues and folk in a dazzling display of guitar artistry.

Lord of the Strings presents Pat Donohue takes place at 7 p.m. at Mission Viejo’s Civic Center, 200 Civic Center.

From the stage of “A Prairie Home Companion” to concert halls across the country, Donohue is setting new standards for “fingerstyle” guitar. In fact, he is one of the most listened to finger pickers in the world.

The Young Artists Philharmonic host a ‘Casual Concert’ June 17, 19
A talented high school orchestra under the direction of Isaac Kramer and Kris Nararian will share its love of music at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 and Friday, June 19 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way. 

The program includes Beethoven’s 8th Symphony and Finlandia by Sibelius along with modern classics such as the overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein.

South Coast Symphony presents a night of Russian music June 20
Enjoy the works of composers Michael Voronel, Mischa Lakirovich and Victoria Rubinchek in an evening of stellar performances by members of the South Coast Symphony.

A fire that displaced a family and caused more than $150,000 in damage to a single-family home on Sunday is believed to have been caused by an electrical issue, according to preliminary reports from the Orange County Fire Authority.

Firefighters had the fire under control within 30 minutes after being dispatched to the scene a little after 2 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross provided assistance to the family.

Fire officials estimate the fire caused $120,000 in structure damages and about $30,000 in content damages.
