The City Council on Monday will consider seeking bids on a much-needed traffic-improvement project at the intersection of Oso Parkway and Marguerite Parkway.
The project, which has been years in the making, calls for widening both Oso Parkway and Marguerite Parkway near the intersection to provide additional lanes and increase traffic flow. The roughly $5.5 million construction project is being funded out of a $6.3 million pool of state, federal and developer funding the City has received for the
traffic-easing project.
Right now, more than 80,000 cars per day pass through the busy intersection, which is expected to reach about 100,000 cars in the future. When completed, the project will significantly improve traffic flow by providing dual left-turn lanes in all directions, designated right-turn lanes in both directions of Marguerite Parkway and an additional through-lane in each direction of Oso Parkway.
City staff is expected to return to the City Council with a construction contract award in July.
Construction could begin in the fall.
