For the 20th straight year since its 1988 incorporation, the City of Mission Viejo has been recognized for excellence in financial reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, a non-profit association that serves more than 17,000 government finance professionals across the country.
The City received a Certificate of Achievement – the highest recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting – for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2008.
The prestigious award is based on a government agency demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate others to read its annual report. Receiving the recognition is a significant accomplishment by a government, its financial services staff and management.
The City’s CAFR is available on its Web site at http://cityofmissionviejo.org.
