Swaying, clapping and jamming to the music, roughly 2,500 people flocked to KSBR’s Birthday Bash on Sunday.
Saddleback College radio station KSBR (88.5 FM) joined forces with the City to host its 20th Birthday Bash celebration at Village Green of Oso Viejo Community Park amidst a sea of jazz aficionados, artists and families alike.
The annual bash featured talented contemporary jazz artists in a freewheeling jam session. Entertainers Craig Chaquico, Freddie Fox with Evelyn “Champagne” King and rising star Elizabeth Mis mesmerized the masses along with several “all-star” performers.
The KSBR Birthday Bash began two decades ago as a small and informal end-of-the-membership-drive party in the lounge of what was then the Dana Point Resort, moving in 1998 to Mission San Juan Capistrano. After 10 years of sellouts at the Mission, the Bash last year moved to its new home in the magnificent and spacious Village Green of Oso Viejo Park in Mission Viejo.
The move to the Village Green helped the event return to its roots as a picnic-style concert with plenty of room for blankets and chairs.
