The City of Mission Viejo is one of only 17 other cities in the state to receive the second highest rating for its building codes and efforts to enforce those codes. The rating is significant from the Insurance Services Office (ISO), Inc. – an insurer-supported organization that provides advisory insurance underwriting and rating information to insurers.
Of the 302 rated cities in California, none have received the highest score (1) from ISO, which uses a 10-point Building Code Effectiveness Grading Classification system. The grading classification system evaluates one and two family residential properties and commercial and industrial properties.
The City contracts with Charles Abbott Associates for building plan check and inspection services.
