Free workshop about awareness, insight March 10
The Braille Institute at 10 a.m. on March 10 will host a free spring workshop, designed to help people with vision loss maintain independence and continue community involvement.
Participants who attend the workshop at the Norman P. Murray and Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, will learn valuable grooming and travel tips.

Learn smart money strategies for 2009
The public is invited on March 10 to learn about smart money strategies to consider in 2009.
The program, which takes place at 11 a.m. at the community center, will help participants overcome low-interest rates and learn how bonds, bond funds, preferred stock and dividend-paying blue chip stocks can improve their total returns.
Scott Walker, CFP, a local independent financial advisor, will discuss investment costs, benefits and risks.

St. Paddy’s Day Luncheon, Celebration March 17
Head over to the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center at 11:30 a.m. on March 17 and enjoy some “luck of the Irish” with a traditional St. Patrick’s Day lunch you won’t soon forget.
The lunch features traditional Irish grub including corned beef and cabbage. While savoring the food and non-alcoholic beer, attendees will view the Riverdance Irish Tour.

The public on March 19 is invited to attend an informative program lead by Dr. Mon Ta Tsai of Monarch Health Care about the importance of foot care for people with Diabetes.

Don’t miss the March 20 Adult Line Dance Party
Get ready to kick up your heels – or boots – and have a blast at the Adult Line Dance Party on March 20 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Professional line-dance instructor Mel Branham leads all levels of dancers. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to join in the fun.

Learn the history of glass on March 24
The public on March 24 is invited to discover and explore the era – 1876 to 1914 – of American brilliant glass in a class designed to engage attendees in the American art form.
Howard Blair, president of the Southern California chapter of the American Brilliant Cut Glass Association, will lead the seminar, which starts at 12:30 p.m., and discuss how the glass was hand cut, who cut it and why the industry grew during that time period.
Participants will see and feel samples the wealthy used to entertain at the turn of the 20th century, and are encouraged to bring their own pieces of cut glass to share.

Tap your brain power on March 28
Seniors, parents, students and anyone interested in tapping into their brain’s amazing power are invited to attend an interactive daylong workshop that will give attendees insight into the brain’s potential.
Heather Martinson of Celebration Education will lead the workshop that will focus on exercises, myths, teaching techniques, body/brain compatibility and how to get the most out of school and teaching methods.
The intriguing workshop takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the community center. Cost is $50.
