A collection barrel for nonperishable food items has been delivered to the Mission Viejo Library, as part of South County Outreach’s food drive.
The City is once again sponsoring the program that serves to feed those in need.
South County Outreach, which was formed in 1989 to provide emergency assistance to South Orange County residents, relies on donations to help feed the less fortunate from Irvine to San Clemente. The demand for services is on the rise due to the economy. The non-profit, which is based in Lake Forest, also operates a thrift store and computer lab. Donations of canned soups, juices, meats, chili, fish, fruits and vegetables; beef stew; macaroni and cheese; rice; beans; cereals; and peanut butter are items that are most in demand.
Donations can be dropped off at the Mission Viejo Library, 100 Civic Center, during normal operating hours or can be delivered to South County Outreach headquarters at 26776 Vista Terrace. For more information, call 949-380-8144.
