The City Council at noon on Monday will host a special public workshop to consider major strategic planning goals and evaluate community needs for City programs and services over the next three to five years.
The meeting, which will be facilitated by Sherry Lund of Sherry L. Lund Associates, will take place in the Jacaranda Room at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.
The workshop is designed to help the City Council identify specific strategic priorities and provide City staff direction for implementation to help guide the development of the City’s 2009-11 budget and the 2009 update of its long-range master financial plan. The ultimate goal is to evaluate the community’s needs and resources and create a plan for the future.
The meeting will begin with a brief overview of significant trends and a summary of key findings from recent community opinion surveys. Council members will consider the major elements of a long-range vision and values for the City. The council will identify and reach consensus on a few key strategies for the next few years to help guide the City toward achieving its vision.
The session will end by focusing on prudent ways to support the implementation of the key strategies and the next steps to monitor and measure progress toward achieving the vision.
The strategic planning session is expected to end at 6:45 p.m.
