Residents wanting the chance to ride atop the City’s 2009 Rose Parade float have until Oct. 31 to apply for what could be an “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity.
All residents are sought to enter a specific category to win a chance to ride on the City’s flower-bedecked float during the 120th Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan.1, 2009. The float, “Making a Splash,” will include members of the Mission Viejo Nadadores diving into roughly 10 tons of water as the float travels down the five-and-a-half mile Rose Parade route.
The categories include baseball, soccer, tennis, softball, golf, a veteran’s category and a newly established all-encompassing “Mission Viejo Resident” category. Entry forms are available on the City’s Web site at www.cityofmissionviejo.org.
Applications received by the Oct. 31 deadline will be entered into a database for the categories. The winners will be randomly selected at the City Council’s Nov. 3 meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.
