With the Orange County International Triathlon set for Sunday, officials are encouraging the public to take note of scheduled road closures that may cause some traffic delays.

The race kicks off at 7 a.m. with a one-mile swim at Lake Mission Viejo, followed by a 25-mile bike ride beginning on Marguerite Parkway traveling north to El Toro Road and out through Santiago Canyon. Triathlon participants will then hit the ground running for a 10K run that starts on the Aliso Creek Bike Trail and traverses various trail systems before ending back at Lake Mission Viejo.

Temporary road closures will be in place that could cause some traffic delays, but residents will not be “locked in” during any portion of the race.

Schedule of Closures
Marguerite Parkway between La Barca & El Toro Rd. (6 to 9 a.m.)
Marguerite Parkway between Vista del Lago & La Barca (5:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
Los Alisos Blvd. between Entidad & Via Novena (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
Olympiad Road between Marguerite & Lake Mission Viejo (5:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
Vista del Lago at Marguerite will be open to residents

All intersection crossings (indicated by black dots on the map below) will be closed during the road closures. Additional intersections may incur delays.

For more information about the Sept. 28 event, visit www.OCTri.com or call the triathlon information hotline at 949-701-5590.
