Start planning for retirement now
Folks that are within three months from age 62 or older and plan on retiring are invited on September 5 to attend a free workshop designed to help them save time and avoid long lines. The “How to Apply for Retirement Online” workshop is from 9 a.m. to noon in the Mission Viejo Library Technology Center. Save time and avoid a trip to the Social Security Office, as Social Security employees will be on hand to assist attendees with filing for their benefits. Attendees should bring their benefit estimate statement and deposit information. For more information call 830-7100, extension 5144 or visit www.cmvl.org

Fall computer classes start Sept. 6
The Mission Viejo Library will offer free computer classes starting Saturday, Sept. 6 – part of a series meant to help folks learn the basics of computer technology.

The Sept. 6 class, “Introduction to Computers,” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A second class, “Introduction to the Internet,” follows from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, with the “Introduction to Email” course taking place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26. Registration is not required; however, space is limited for the popular classes that are held in the library’s Technology Center.
For more information call the Mission Viejo Library Technology Center at 830-7100, extension 5127.

Fall storytime program series Sept. 9-Oct. 28
Don’t miss the opportunity to have your kids “fall” into reading as the Mission Viejo Library’s fall 2008 Storytime Program Series gets underway Sept. 9

The “Mommy and Me” Storytime, geared toward children ages 13 to 36 months, is conveniently offered twice on Mondays from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m., and 11:30 to 11:50 a.m.

Children from 3 to 6 years of age are invited to attend “Storytime” on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Storytime is also offered twice on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 2 p.m.

The library’s popular “Pajamarama” Storytime, which takes place from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, is geared toward kids ages 3 to 6 years of age.

All fun-filled programs, which run through October 28, are free and incorporate literature, movement, music and crafts. Programs are held in the Mission Viejo Library Friends Community Room. The library is at 100 Civic Center. For more information, call 949-830-7100, extension 5107, or visit the library’s web site at www.cmvl.org
