One incumbent and two residents so far have pulled papers for two open seats in the City Council election including Council Member Gail Reavis; Rich Atkinson, a municipal government employee; and Cathy Schlicht, an investment counselor/loan services manager. Mayor Pro Tem Frank Ury’s seat is also open.
City Council Candidate Nomination Papers are available during the nomination period that began Monday and ends Friday, Aug. 8.
Candidates have until 5 p.m. Aug. 8 to file nomination documents and statements of qualification for office. The deadline extends to Aug. 13 only if an incumbent is not running for re-election and does not file papers by Aug. 8.
Candidates must be registered voters and reside in the City of Mission Viejo.
