Roughly $4,200 was raised during the City’s Fourth of July Street Faire to help benefit the City’s adopted Marines.

Members of the City of Mission Viejo’s Marine Adoption Committee raised the money by selling Polo shirts and hats commemorating the City’s 20th anniversary of cityhood. Volunteers also sold special “Challenge Coins,” which honor the Marine Corps and those that serve in the Headquarters Battalion, First Marine Division.

Proceeds raised from the day-long event will help fund upcoming programs, events and more for the Marines and their families.

Committee member Bruce Hunt said the fundraising effort was well received by the community.

The City’s Marine Adoption Committee will host its next fundraiser – the Marines and Sailors Car Wash Benefit – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 19 at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.
